About forced cancellation of BELAVIA flights to Israel

31.05.2022

The recent decision of the Israeli side to refuse service at Ben-Gurion Airport for the aircrafts of the Belarusian national airline BELAVIA was taken by the Belarusian side with deep regret.

On May 15, 2022, having received official permission from the Israeli aviation authorities to resume its regular flights on the “Minsk-Tel Aviv-Minsk” route, BELAVIA carefully and scrupulously – as it usually does – prepared to host passengers from two countries on board its aircrafts.

Obviously, the decision to refuse service to BELAVIA aircraft will primarily hit the interests of ordinary citizens – both Belarusians and Israelis, for whom this direction of flights has always been in high demand. This is understandable, many people in Belarus and Israel have relatives, real estate, business, etc. Belarus was often visited by those who wanted to relax among the unique nature, and those who were interested in the centuries-old history of Judaism on Belarusian soil.

Undoubtedly, this will also have a negative impact on the development of the tourism industry of the two countries, the issue of the revival of which is acute after long coronavirus restrictions.

For 26 years, it was BELAVIA that actually served as the main – and very comfortable – means of transportation between Belarus and Israel, which was actively used by the citizens of our countries.

And it was BELAVIA that, during the recent most severe pandemic restrictions in the world, served as the only opportunity for many Israelis to get home.

The Belarusian side is counting on a speedy successful resolution of the situation in the interests of the citizens of Belarus and Israel.
