On the Great Patriotic war veterans’ award ceremony in Netanya

On July 24th, 2024, Evgeny Vorobyev, the Ambassador of Belarus to Israel, held a ceremony in Netanya to award veterans of the Great Patriotic War with the jubilee medal “80th Anniversary of the Liberation of Belarus from the Nazi Invaders”.

The event was organized with the support of the municipal government and was attended by representatives of the municipality, veteran organizations and the public of Netanya. Among the veterans were those who took part in the offensive operation “Bagration”.

In his welcoming remarks, the head of the Belarusian Diplomatic Mission noted that it was on the Belarusian land in 1944 that the fateful offensive operation “Bagration” began, which became a key event on the Soviet-German front and led to the Great Victory in May 1945.

Evgeny Vorobyev emphasized that Belarusians are carefully preserve the memory of the feat of the Red Army, in which people of all nationalities fought together, resolutely oppose any attempts to rewrite the history and honor the memory of civilian victims and fallen heroes, prisoners of ghettos and concentration camps.

At the end of the event, in a solemn atmosphere, veterans were presented with commemorative medals, congratulatory letters on behalf of the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko “Soldier’s triangle” and souvenirs. Participants of the battles of the Great Patriotic War shared their memories of the hard times of war.
