Meeting of the Ambassador of Belarus to Israel with Yad Vashem Chairman
17.10.2025On October 15, 2025, Ambassador of Belarus to Israel Yury Yaroshevich met with Dani Dayan, Chairman of the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial Complex.
The parties discussed the preservation of the historical memory of the Holocaust, commemoration of the victims of Nazism, and the development of cooperation between Belarus and Israel in the memorial and educational spheres.

A key topic of the meeting was the project to establish the Museum of the Holocaust and Resistance in the city of Novogrudok, based on the existing Museum of Jewish Resistance. Novogrudok holds a special place in history: during World War II, around 11,000 Jews were killed there. It was also the site of the largest escape from a ghetto in Europe, when about 250 prisoners managed to flee through a secret tunnel and later joined the Bielski partisan detachment — a powerful symbol of Jewish courage and resistance.
Both sides emphasized the importance of preserving historical truth, combating antisemitism, and continuing joint work in this important field.
