12.02.2026On February 11, 2026, Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to the State of Israel Yury Yaroshavich met with First Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel Yakov Livne
During a constructive and lengthy discussion, the Sides addressed a wide range of issues, paying special attention to preserving the historical memory of the tragedies of the Second World War and the Holocaust.
In particular, they discussed the progress in implementing the project to establish a Holocaust and Resistance Museum in Novogrudok, Belarus.

Ambassador Yury Yaroshavich emphasized during the meeting that, compared to many developed Western countries, Belarus stands out as a country free of antisemitism, where a significant Jewish community lives peacefully and prosperously, makes a substantial contribution to the country’s development, coexists in a spirit of full mutual understanding, and freely practices its religion.
He also noted initiatives undertaken by the Belarusian state to preserve historically significant sites for both countries (including the restoration of the building of the Jewish yeshiva in Volozhin).
The Sides also discussed facilitating the participation of the Belarusian Side in events in Israel with the support of church and public organizations, including the Holy Fire ceremony in Jerusalem. Particular attention was paid to holding significant events in Israel dedicated to the 40th Anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster, taking into account that around 1,500 liquidators of the Chernobyl accident reside in the country.
