On the participation in the opening ceremony of the “Grove of Memory” memorial complex
09.09.2025On September 9, 2025 Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to Israel, Yury Yaroshevich, took part in the inauguration of the memorial complex “Grove of Memory,” dedicated to the defenders and residents of besieged Leningrad.
The ceremony took place in the Forest of the Righteous near Jerusalem and was organized by the Association of Refugees and Holocaust Survivors, the Jewish National Fund “Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael,” and the Embassy of Russia in Israel.

In his welcoming remarks, Ambassador Yaroshevich emphasized the importance of preserving historical memory and highlighted the initiative to establish a Holocaust museum in Belarus, which will honor the memory of the victims and their heroism. He also reflected on the historical significance of Belarusian-Jewish relations and the shared tragic chapters of the Great Patriotic War.
Speaking on the importance of remembering the Siege of Leningrad, Yaroshevich recalled the documentary chronicle The Blockade Book, created through the initiative of Belarusian writer Ales Adamovich in collaboration with Daniil Granin, which compiles over 200 firsthand accounts of blockade survivors.
The ceremony concluded with the laying of wreaths and flowers at the memorial.
