Ambassador of Belarus holds meeting with Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem

On January 27, 2026, Ambassador of Belarus to Israel, Yury Yaroshevich, met with His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of the Holy City of Jerusalem and All Palestine.

One of the key topics of the meeting was the expressed readiness of His Beatitude the Patriarch to pay a visit to the Republic of Belarus, with the timing proposed to be coordinated through diplomatic channels.

During a warm and substantive conversation, the parties exchanged views on the current situation in the region. His Beatitude the Patriarch emphasized that light and hope for peace are finally emerging in the region –  peace for which unceasing prayers are offered in Jerusalem.

The Ambassador expressed deep gratitude for the continued support provided to pilgrims visiting the Holy Land and requested assistance in facilitating the participation of a Belarusian delegation in the Holy Fire ceremony on Holy Saturday.

Yury Yaroshevich particularly noted the attention and prayers of His Beatitude the Patriarch for Belarus, emphasizing the importance of spiritual ties and traditions that unite nations.

In turn, His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III conveyed his best wishes to Veniamin, Metropolitan of Minsk and Zaslavl, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus.

The Sides also discussed the resumption of direct air connections, which would make it possible this year to intensify pilgrimage and humanitarian contacts, including visits by high-level delegations.

The meeting was held in an atmosphere of friendship and mutual respect and underscored the desire of both sides to strengthen spiritual dialogue and traditional ties between their peoples.
